Finding the perfect seat on the train during a busy morning commute can be a real challenge. It’s often a game of luck as to where you stand on a platform to make sure you get a place to sit in a carriage.

In conjunction with South West Trains, we will produce an application that twins with sensors to show free seats in every carriage of a train. Seats will be fitted with inexpensive pressure sensors. When occupied, they will sense the weight of a body, displaying this on an application. Users will be able to browse through the carriages of oncoming trains to decipher where free seats are located. The application will then lead them to the correct position to stand on a platform to get the perfect seat.
